Frequently asked questions — San Antonio.

If your question isn't here, email info@alvipsych.com or call (210) 343-1433.

Do I have to travel to San Antonio for the evaluation?

No. All AlviPsych evaluations are fully telehealth, so the visit happens from anywhere in Texas — your home, your car, your workplace. You only need a phone or laptop with a camera and a private space.

Is AlviPsych affiliated with Methodist, University Health, or any San Antonio bariatric program?

AlviPsych is an independent telepsychiatry practice. We are not contracted with any single hospital system, which means we can accept patients from every San Antonio surgical program — Methodist, University Health, Texas Bariatric Specialists, BMI of Texas, and private practices alike. Our clearance letter is formatted to be accepted by any surgical team.

How fast will my surgeon receive the clearance letter?

The clearance letter is delivered to your surgeon's office within 48 hours of your completed evaluation. Most patients book a visit within a few business days of being asked, so the surgical team typically has the letter inside a week.

I'm in New Braunfels / Boerne / San Marcos — can I still use this?

Yes. Because the evaluation is fully telehealth, distance from San Antonio doesn't matter. We serve patients across Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, and Hays Counties — and anywhere else in Texas.

Will my San Antonio surgeon accept your clearance letter?

Yes. The AlviPsych clearance letter is a structured, signed psychiatric clearance report following the documentation standards required by bariatric, transplant, neuromodulation, spinal, and cosmetic surgical programs. If your surgical team has questions, they can call us at (210) 343-1433 or email info@alvipsych.com.

What if I'm not cleared?

You'll receive a structured report documenting the clinical reasoning, screener results, and any recommended next steps — such as stabilization of an active condition, follow-up screening at a later date, or referral for ongoing care. The goal is to support safe surgical planning, not to delay your procedure unnecessarily.

Do you bill insurance?

No. AlviPsych is cash-pay only — $500 flat per evaluation. We can provide a superbill for insurance submission, but reimbursement depends on your plan. Cash-pay keeps turnaround predictable and removes prior-authorization delays.

Is this a HIPAA-compliant telehealth visit?

Yes. All evaluations are conducted over HIPAA-secure telehealth, with intake and consent handled through compliant platforms. We only work with vendors that have a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) in place.

Ready to move your San Antonio case forward?

Patients can book a virtual visit in under two minutes. Surgical teams and coordinators can request a QR code, a patient-facing link, and a redacted sample clearance letter.
